The winter average temperature is a warm 18 Celsius, this rarely falls much lower. The hotter summer months yield and average temperature of 24 Celsius. This is likely to me much higher in the hotter months. This is especially true for July, August and September. The temperature will often exceed 30 Celsius and even as high as 40 Celsius.
Weather in Gran Canaria in September, October & November
The Weather in Gran Canaria in the Autumn months of September, October and November is warm. The temperature will begin to drop towards the end of September. After the summer months with no rainfall, the autumn months will bring some needed rain.
September is the first of the autumn months but the temperature is almost as hot as August. The average temperature during September is 24 Celsius. The sea temperature is now a warm 23 Celsius. September sees a few days of rainfall after three barren months without rain. The amount of precipitation tends to be minimal. The hours of sunshine each day will now drop to 8 hours.
October sees a small drop in the temperature but not a significant decrease. The average temperature in Gran Canaria in October is 23 Celsius. There is more rainfall than September during this month. On average there will be two or three days rain in October. The precipitation will be at least double that of September.
The hours of sunshine drops to 7 hours but the sea temperature will remain at 23 Celsius. Although the average is around 23 Celsius, there will still be days that exceed 30 Celsius.
November is the end of autumn when the temperature will again decrease. The average temperature in November is 21 Celsius. Only December will see more rainfall than this month. The historical precipitation for November is about a third more than October. It’s normal for it to rain for around four days.

The weather in Gran Canaria during December, January and February is generally good. These months see more rainfall than any other month. The average temperature during the day is around 18 Celsius. This will drop further in the evenings.
December sees more rainfall than any other month in Gran Canaria and the hours of sunshine will drop to 6 hours. It will rain for at least five days during this month. The precipitation will be more more than any other month also. The average temperature during the day is 19 Celsius. You can expect many of these days to exceed 20 Celsius and on occasion rise to the mid twenties.
The evenings will now start to feel much cooler and the sea temperature will drop to 21 Celsius. December is another popular month for tourism. You can expect plenty of activity and some warm sunny days to enjoy.
January is coldest month in Gran Canaria as it is for most of the Canary Islands. This is also the case for much of Spain generally. The daytime average temperature will decrease to around 18 Celsius. The rainfall will be quite a bit less than that of December. The weather in Gran Canaria during the spring months is exceptional. The temperature begins to increase and the rainfall is decrease. The average temperature during the spring months of March, April and May is over 20 Celsius. Most days during these months will remain dry.
March is the start of spring when the temperature begins to increase again. The average temperature for March is 19 Celsius, this increases at the end of the month. Rainfall is becoming more scarce now, it will not rain for more than 2 – 3 days during this month.
The average hours of sunshine will remain at 7 hours and the sea temperature will remain at 19 Celsius. The evenings will now begin to feel warmer and the island will be buzzing with tourist activity.
April sees another increase in the temperature and a decrease in the amount of rainfall. The average daily temperature is now 20 Celsius with many days feeling much warmer. The hours of sunshine halfway through spring will now increase to 8 hours. The sea temperature will remain at 19 Celsius. You will be unfortunate to see much rainfall during April. There should be plenty of opportunities to enjoy some warm sunny weather.
May is the last month of spring but like September, May could be a summer month. The weather in Gran Canaria in May is warm with an average temperature of 21 Celsius. You can sometimes experience temperatures of 10 Celsius above the monthly average. It’s likely that several days towards the end of the month will approach 30 Celsius. The hours of sunshine will now increase to 9. There is little to no rainfall and the sea temperature will increase to 20 Celsius.

The summer weather in Gran Canaria can be very hot and the rainfall non existent. The summer months of June, July and August are the hottest in Gran Canaria. The exception is September which can be as hot as August. The average temperature during these months is around 24 Celsius. Many days will exceed 30 Celsius. There is hardly any rainfall on record during these months. The sea temperature will be ideal for swimming and water activities.
June is the beginning of the summer in Gran Canaria and the temperature will be increasing. The average temperature in June is 22 Celsius. This month can be as hot as 30 Celsius, especially towards the end of the month. Most days will be hotter than 25 Celsius and the sea temperature will increase to 21 Celsius. On average there are 9 hours of sunshine each day and it’s very unlikely to rain much at all.
July is one of the hottest months in Gran Canaria but cooler than August and September. The average temperature during this month is 24 Celsius but most days will feel much hotter. The highest temperature ever recorded in Gran Canaria was in July, 44.2 Celsius. The hours of sunshine will now increase to 10 each day. The temperature will often exceed 30 Celsius.
There is no recorded rainfall in July in recent years. You are unlikely to experience any rain during this month. The sea temperature will now increase to 22 Celsius. Perfect for swimming and other water activities.
August is the hottest month in Gran Canaria as it is for most of Spain generally. The average temperature is 24 Celsius. Some days will be hotter than 30 Celsius and perhaps even hotter. August, like July has no recent rainfall recorded so you are unlikely to have much rain during your visit.
